Erika Kulnys

"By possessing the ingenious intellect and activist zeal of Ani DiFranco combined with the poetic skepticism of Leonard Cohen, Kulnys is artfully cementing her place in the history books...the ballad-aesthetic of early Tori Amos...her achingly honest, yet beautifully created craftsmanship is as vast as the North Atlantic Ocean. Spin the cheekiness of Dolly Parton with the overt sexuality of Kinnie Starr, then dash the toe-tapping rhythms of Newfoundland’s Colleen Power to conjure up a sense of her multi-dimensional musical talents.” - Shannon Webb-Campbell for

Playing guitar and piano, she opens the hearts of her audiences with her vulnerability, passion, and contagious joy. A Watson Fellow for Folk Music for Social Change, an Oberlin Composition Dept. grad, and a songwriter of 20 years, Erika's music spans folk, pop, jazz and world. Erika has collaborated with Bruce Guthro, Ferron, Paul Jefferson and Rose Vaughan, and has shared stages with Dave Gunning, Dar Williams, Richie Havens, Guy Davis, Josh Ritter, and Richard Thompson.

This is Erika’s first Highlands Inn house concert. She has played in Canada and the U.S., South Korea, Spain, Ireland and Latin America and is currently touring her newly released albums, Year of the Water Snake and WINGS.
